Shavuot marks the extraordinary event of receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai — not by a privileged few, but as the inheritance of every Jewish child, regardless of background, status, or family.
The message is timeless: Torah belongs to us all, and its wisdom and light are meant to uplift every soul.
Torah teaches that God is the ultimate protector of orphans, and that caring for them is our communal responsibility. On Shavuot, we receive the Torah and commit to ensuring that the vulnerable among us are embraced with dignity, love, and opportunity.
In the weeks leading up to Shavuot, we count the Omer, a step-by-step journey of character-building and personal growth. At Zion Orphanage, this principle comes alive: Just as the Jewish people moved from slavery to Sinai in a deliberate process of transformation, so too each child is guided along a path toward confidence, dignity, and purpose.
Following time-honored custom, on Shavuot night the Zion boys stay awake, immersed in Torah study. As sunlight breaks across the horizon, they gather in prayer, embodying the unbroken chain stretching back to Sinai.
Your donation sends a message that every child has a share in Torah – and is a proud bearer of our eternal inheritance.
