JERUSALEM – Jewish rap star Nissim Black filmed his hit music video, "Change," at Zion Orphanage – while featuring a choir of twenty Zion boys!
The video, with 375,000 YouTube views and growing, showcases Zion Orphanage to a new generation of supporters.
Nissim, a veteran of his own challenging childhood, visited Zion Orphanage and developed a kinship with the boys. "The kids at Zion Orphanage inspired me to write this song," he says.
Nissim explains the theme: "Everyone has a deep inner desire to change, to grow and become better. But change can be difficult. Particularly children who've had a rough start, they need a second chance to reach their potential. This song expresses that yearning: 'I'm so ready to change'."
For Zion Orphanage, collaborating on "Change" proved to be an amazing opportunity to bring its message of hope and inspiration to a mass audience.
Nissim, too, was deeply inspired. In a recent interview, when asked: "Of the hundreds of songs you've written and recorded, what is your favorite?", he answered: "Change."
The Zion boys featured prominently in the music video, especially Shlomo, were thrilled to participate in such a meaningful project. Since the founding of Zion Orphanage over 125 years ago, music has played a significant part in the rehabilitation process.
Our acclaimed multifaceted music program teaches the boys to sing and play instruments. After many hours of creative self-expression and disciplined practice, they record music in our on-campus professional recording studio and perform publicly.
This experience instills pride and self-confidence that helps build a life of happiness and productivity.
Please support Zion's life-affirming activities for needy children of Israel.
