About Zion Orphanage
Founded in 1899, Zion Orphanage is the world's oldest continuously running Jewish orphanage. We provide more than 200 orphaned, homeless and disadvantaged children and youth, ages 3-22, with the highest standards of a warm, stable environment – driven by our belief in the greatness of every human being.Click here to learn more
Zion Orphanage now has a high school age program for high-functioning Down syndrome boys. Our goals: maximizing academic potential and social integration.
It is thoughtfully designed to meet each individual's educational, social, emotional, and life-skills needs. Our school is set up to address each student's specific strengths, needs and goals. Tailored educational plans are regularly reviewed and updated by a multidisciplinary team of educators, therapists and family.
Our teachers specialize in strategies for Down syndrome, assisted by a team of speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and behavioral specialists.
Beyond the classroom, our music therapy program helps these Zion boys develop creativity, patience, perseverance, concentration and motor skills.

Building Campaign
A downtown Jerusalem property – owned by Zion Orphanage – was built in 1950, yet never renovated.
Through your generosity, the opportunity is now here to transform this property into a custom-built school for Zion's Down Syndrome School – your eternal legacy in the Holy City.
The complete cost of renovation is $800,000. Classrooms, computer room, music room, dining room, bedrooms, kitchen and synagogue – and the building itself – are available for dedication in the name of your choice.
The Zion Orphanage is a registered seif 46 tax-deductible charity in Israel and a non-profit recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS under Section 501(c)(3). Donations are tax-deductible in the U.S., Canada, UK and Israel.
