About Zion Orphanage
Founded in 1899, Zion Orphanage is the world's oldest continuously running Jewish orphanage. We provide more than 200 orphaned, homeless and disadvantaged children and youth, ages 3-22, with the highest standards of a warm, stable environment – driven by our belief in the greatness of every human being.Click here to learn more
At Zion Orphanage, we appreciate the increasing role of technology. Our goal is a technological education that inspires more creative and confident thinking.
At the same time, we closely monitor the boys' computer activities, directing them to utilize the computer as a tool for education, communication, and problem-solving.
Over 100 years ago, our founder Rabbi A.Y. Blumenthal emphasized confidence-building activities that enhance creativity and imagination. Today, whether it's photography, computer graphics or electronics, these activities stimulate the boys' social, emotional, linguistic and cognitive capabilities.
Additionally, Zion boys excel at carefully-curated selection of games that teach:
- strategy, logic, future-thinking, and problem-solving
- math and reading skills
- negotiating, resources and time management
- following rules, cooperating with others, and how to win/lose graciously
