After a stimulating day at school, Zion boys are eager for extra-curricular activities that spark creativity, reduce stress, and provide a good night sleep.
So whether writing and recording music, training in martial arts, or exploring the world of arts and crafts, these activities are especially crucial for Zion boys, who come from dysfunctional homes and often missed out on childhood fun and enrichment.
Case in point: our energy-packed summer camp which features swimming, hiking, rafting, magicians, and science projects. And our new rooftop sports center, with its multi-purpose basketball-soccer-volleyball court.
Through these activities, Zion boys learn vital life lessons in teamwork, perseverance, goal-setting, discipline, and leadership.
Digital photography has proven an excellent therapeutic activity for Zion boys. Photography provides a powerful medium to express emotions that may be difficult to verbalize, and a creative outlet for self-expression and emotional processing. Photography also implants and strengthens childhood memories that positively impact emotional well-being.
For Zion boys, arts and crafts is more than just "fun"; it is highly therapeutic and rehabilitative. As the boys improve, progress, and step outside their comfort zone, a healthy self-confidence grows.
In drawing, painting, and sculpting, Zion boys develop motor skills, visual-spatial skills, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Even more, they explore the depths of aesthetic beauty and creative self-expression.
All this is part of our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals, body and soul.
